A REIT is an investment vehicle “Usually registered as a company” that can be traded on a stock exchange, and is primarily engaged in investing and owning real-estate assets. REITs provide investors with the option to invest in a diversfied asset base, and offer a steady income stream. They invest in completed, income-generating properties, and distribute a signicant portion of the earnings as dividends to investors. Historically, REITs have attracted interests from retail investors as well as from long-term investors such as pension funds and insurance companies who prefer a regular flow of income.
